Garbage management company - Waste management company Remondis records notable improvements once more.

The waste management firm Remondis has yet again boosted its revenues and surpassed its rivals. In the previous fiscal year, this enterprise headquartered in Lünen, North Rhine-Westphalia, recorded earnings of 12.1 billion euros, marking an increase of 600 million euros from 2022. The company under the Rethmann Group's umbrella did not disclose any financial details regarding profits. Their workforce expanded by roughly 3,000 personnel, resulting in a total of approximately 43,000 employees.

Remondis handles numerous waste-related tasks, such as managing incineration plants, sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, compost facilities, landfills, as well as processing construction waste, wood, and glass. They also have a strong presence in recycling, owning sorting plants for plastics and providing services for various waste management concerns.

Germany's waste management sector is highly competitive, with Prezero from Neckarsulm in Baden-Württemberg ranking second with sales of 3.9 billion euros in the 2022/23 financial year. Notably, Prezero is associated with the Schwarz Group, which also encompasses the Lidl discount chain. Moreover, the French waste management company Veolia reported a turnover of 2.8 billion euros in Germany during 2023.

With increasing emphasis on the circular economy, the German waste management field presents promising opportunities. This concept emphasizes repurposing waste as a raw material and converting it into a new product using recycling, thereby keeping the material in circulation. This is crucial for plastics, bearing in mind the detrimental impact on landscapes and oceans. However, only a modest quantity of the discarded plastics in Germany is actually transformed into new items. The remaining waste is either burned or shipped abroad.
