Northwestern Mecklenburg: The Focus Area - Warrant issued for 46-year-old man in connection with assault on parents.
A 46-year-old individual is wanted for allegedly assaulting his parents in Grevesmühlen, Northwest Mecklenburg. The prosecutor's office revealed this information to the German Press Agency in the afternoon on a Friday. The accusations include attempted murder and aggravated assault. The district court in Wismar refused to classify the mother's injuries as attempted murder. At present, the 46-year-old is being held in pre-trial detention.
As per the Schwerin prosecutor's office's announcement on Thursday, the man entered his parents' apartment violently around midnight. He threatened his mother, who was in bed, and shot her in the back of the head with a stun gun. Afterwards, he shot his father in the face and stabbed him with a knife in a different room.
The 65 and 69-year-old victims sustained serious injuries and used a neighbor's assistance to reach out to the police. They were later admitted to a hospital. Unfortunately, their lives are not in any mortal danger.
Furthermore, the spokesperson for the prosecutor's office added that the man escaped but was caught by police tactical forces in his apartment early on Thursday morning. For now, the suspected motivations for the crime could be related to money, as per initial investigations. It was mentioned that the parents had recently announced they would no longer provide financial aid to their son. There is currently no information available about the suspect's living situation.
