Warning strike in Schwerin: no buses and streetcars running
Buses and streetcars remained in the depot in Schwerin on Saturday morning due to a warning strike by the Verdi trade union. No buses or streetcars had started running, said union representative Christian Manke on Saturday morning. The website of the Schwerin local transport company (NVS) stated on Saturday: "no regular services". The action is to last from 4.00 a.m. until 4.00 a.m. on Sunday. The reason for the warning strike is the failure of wage negotiations between the NVS and Verdi.
Manke was satisfied after the start of the action on Saturday. Even employees who were not on duty took part in a meeting at the depot. A Saturday had been deliberately chosen so that schoolchildren and working people would not be affected.
Verdi had already announced a warning strike for Tuesday from 4 p.m. until Wednesday morning. However, if negotiations on Tuesday morning result in a good offer, the action will be canceled.
The lack of buses and streetcars in Schwerin on Saturday was a result of the Verdi trade union's warning strike, affecting both public transportation services. The potential for further disruptions was suggested with Verdi's announcement of another strike on Tuesday.
