Warning of snow-laden branches in parks and gardens
The winter weather invites you to take a walk in parks and gardens. But this can sometimes be dangerous, warns the Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation. Branches could break off under the weight of the snow. Especially because the trees have suffered from drought in recent years.
Walkers should therefore stay on the paths and avoid snow-laden trees, according to the announcement on Friday. There could also be danger near buildings, for example if snow and ice fall from the roof. And the following also applies this winter: ice surfaces must not be walked on.
Despite the allure of winter weather for outdoor walks, the Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation cautions against straying from paths due to the risk of snow-laden branches breaking off. Moreover, during this season, one should beware of potential accidents near buildings, as snow and ice might fall from roofs.
