Warning of severe weather in parts of Baden-Württemberg

The German Weather Service (DWD) is warning of continuous rain and gale-force winds in parts of Baden-Württemberg. A weather expert said on Monday that gale-force winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour could occur in the Black Forest above 1000 meters. However, after the squalls subside on Tuesday night, the rain will remain.

The DWD is warning of heavy continuous rain in the Black Forest until midday on Tuesday. According to the spokesperson, there will be up to 70 liters per square meter in some areas. In congested areas, it could even rain up to 100 liters per square meter, it said.

The weather service is also warning of continuous rain in parts of the Allgäu. Here, up to 100 liters per square meter are expected by Wednesday afternoon, and 120 liters per square meter in congested areas.

Due to the rain, the flood forecasting center expects water levels in Baden-Württemberg's rivers to rise significantly. Waters in the south of the state are particularly affected, according to the situation report on Monday. Flood warning values may also be exceeded.

According to the weather expert, it will not be dry again in many parts until Thursday. The afternoon should definitely be enjoyed. After it is expected to remain dry on Friday, rain is expected again at the weekend.

The heavy rain and gale-force winds could potentially escalate into a storm in some areas of the Black Forest, as warned by the weather expert. Despite the storm subsiding on Tuesday night, rain will continue to fall.
