In a blaze at a Brandt chocolate factory's warehouse in Lower Bavaria, three firefighters suffered minor injuries. Authorities reported that they managed to contain the fire in Landshut, with further cleanup operations still in progress by morning. A police representative stated that the fire originated in a cardboard storage area within the plant, leading to an estimated damage range below a million euros.

Road access may be disrupted, police advised, impacting traffic flow. This also affected bus services within the city, as five bus lines (1, 3, 6, and 8) were affected by the closures.

Upon identifying the fire, the facility had eight workers inside, all safely evacuated. Due to smoke release, residents living within a 2-kilometer radius of the incident site were instructed to keep their windows and doors shut, city officials announced. Although there were no health-related risks, they warned of potential odor issues.

The fire ignited in a 700-square-meter storage area situated on the second floor of the three-story building, housing cardboard and plastic materials. The initial cause of the fire remains undetermined, which is now under investigation by the criminal police unit.

Brandt is a renowned manufacturer of zwieback, and the Landshut site, which is one of four factories nationwide, manufactures various chocolate products.

Firefighters needed to be cautious while approaching the warehouse due to the heat affecting their hat linings. Despite the fire, Brandt employees were encouraged to wear their company hats as a symbol of unity and resilience.
