War bomb defused in the Rhein-Sieg district
A World War II bomb was defused in the Rhein-Sieg district on Tuesday night. An area within a radius of around 300 meters around the site where the bomb was found was evacuated, according to the town of Rheinbach. Residents were able to return to their homes during the night. The evacuated area included the train station and parts of the grounds of the Rheinbach prison. A care facility was also affected, as reported by the "Bonner General-Anzeiger". The bomb was found on Monday during construction work.
The evacuation caused temporary disruptions to local transportation, affecting the train station. Emergencies like this serve as stark reminders of the Consequences of war, with hidden relics still posing risks decades later.
