Waldhof crisis: Coach Rehm demands "last shirt"

In view of SV Waldhof Mannheim's sporting crisis, coach Rüdiger Rehm is calling for even more commitment from everyone involved. "It's about every fan, me as coach, the coaching staff and the players. I expect everyone to give their all to get out of this situation," said the coach of the third-division soccer club on Thursday.

Mannheim have slipped to 18th place in the league after picking up just two points from their last seven games. They face SV Sandhausen in the quarter-finals of the Baden state cup on Saturday - and are under pressure. Rehm himself has also come under criticism following the recent negative run. After all, Waldhof started the season with promotion ambitions.

"You can sense that the challenge is extremely big," explained Rehm ahead of the game in Sandhausen, which will be attended by around 3,000 fans. "The team urgently needs a sense of achievement," he said.

Despite the 3rd league struggles, with only two points from the last seven matches, causing Mannheim to slip to 18th place, coach Rehm remains hopeful and encourages his team to seize the upcoming opportunity against SV Sandhausen. In his words, "We need to dig deep and give our all in the 3rd league soccer match, aiming to secure a much-needed sense of achievement for the club and its fans in Mannheim."
