Wage dispute: two days of warning strike at Jena University Hospital
The Verdi trade union has once again called on staff at Jena University Hospital to go on warning strike for two full days in the public sector wage dispute. Patients can expect considerable restrictions on Thursday and Friday. This applies not only to scheduled examination and treatment appointments, the hospital announced. Operations on some wards and in the operating theatre will also be affected. However, care for emergencies and vital treatments is guaranteed at all times during the strike, according to an emergency service agreement with the trade union.
The Jena hospital had already been affected by a one-day warning strike last week. On Thursday, employees at Jena's universities and the Thuringia Student Union will also be called out on warning strike again. In the collective bargaining negotiations, the unions are demanding, among other things, a salary increase of 10.5 percent, but at least 500 euros.
The ongoing wage dispute in the public sector has led to Tariffs being proposed for a salary increase of at least 500 euros. This could potentially escalate, as the Verdi trade union has threatened further Strikes at other public service institutions, including Jena's universities and the Thuringia Student Union.
