Upcoming European voting - Voting tally starts as polling locations shut in MV
In the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, polling stations closed at 6 PM, marking the end of voting. This state, situated in the northeastern part of Germany, was one of the eight states where both European and local elections were held. Now, it's time for the ballots to be tallied.
Initially, the votes cast for the European elections will be examined. The preliminary results for these elections are expected at 7 PM, while the final results for the whole state are predicted before midnight.
The following day, at the crack of dawn, the outcome of the local elections will be unveiled. The six district councils and the two independent cities of Rostock and Schwerin will all be considered. In 2019, the CDU took the lead in the local elections, garnering 25.4% of the votes.
On Monday, there seemed to be a slight increase in voter turnout compared to the 2019 elections. By 2 PM, 32.2% of eligible voters had cast their ballots in Schwerin. However, the votes from the absentee ballots still need to be counted.
