Upcoming European elections - Voting locations in Rhineland-Palatinate were shut down.

Following the close of polling stations in Rhineland-Palatinate on Sunday night, the ballot counting for municipal elections and the European Parliament commenced. Preliminary reports from the election administration indicated a seemingly uneventful voting day.

Based on a survey in select cities and municipalities conducted by the state election management, it was noted that approximately 48% of qualified voters had participated in the election process between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm on Sunday. Contrasting figures from five years ago that were recorded at 45% at this same time prompted a revelation by the election administration on the same day.

Anecdotes from a polling station in Mainz reported longer queues happening around 6:00 pm. However, a representative for the election administration confirmed that voting was still possible for individuals who had lined up before the said time.

The outcome of the European election in Rhineland-Palatinate would not be revealed until 11:00 pm. The tally for the municipal elections, due to its complex voting system, might require more time and might not be finalized until mid-next week.
