Upcoming Europe-wide voting events - Voting locations are now accessible in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Voting stations for the European Parliament and local council elections have started operating in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 8:00 am, undecided voters can head to these centers and exercise their right to vote for the diverse alternatives presented in the ballot papers. Over 3.2 million individuals in Rhineland-Palatinate are eligible to participate in these elections. Besides this, in certain parts of the country, residents are also voting for district administrators and mayors.
The end of day announcement for the European election in Rhineland-Palatinate won't take place until around 11:00 pm. The forecast for the outcome of the regional elections is that it might take a while since the voting methodology is complex, possibly even through mid-next week. The mayoral and district administrator election results, however, are projected to be revealed by Sunday evening.
The European election in Rhineland-Palatinate acts as a benchmark for the political parties. Currently, a traffic light coalition of SPD, FDP, and Greens governs on the state level. In the 2014 European elections, both CDU and SPD experienced setbacks. CDU remained the leading party ahead of SPD; Greens trailed behind CDU.
Across the EU, approximately 350 million people are invited to vote. Of these, approximately 65 million are in Germany. A total of 720 seats will be assigned for the European Parliament. This number includes 96 seats for Germany. Previously, six people from Rhineland-Palatinate occupied these positions.
