Accident - Visually impaired woman falls onto the track - run over by suburban train
At a tragic accident at S-Bahn station Allermohe, a visually impaired woman was severely injured. According to the Federal Police, the 33-year-old woman stepped onto the platform around 9.19 am. For unknown reasons, she did not notice the platform edge and fell into the track area in front of an approaching S-Bahn. The train driver initiated an emergency brake, but could not prevent an collision. Fire department of Hamburg rescued the 33-year-old woman from the tracks and took her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to evaluation of video data and witness statements, the Federal Police are currently assuming a tragic accident. Due to the rescue operation, S-Bahn line 2 was temporarily closed in the morning between Billwerder Moorfleet and Bergedorf. A shuttle service with buses and taxis was arranged.
