- Visitors' snakes for the launch of the Steam Flock Adventure World
Meiningen's new permanent exhibition dedicated to the theme of steam locomotives has successfully concluded its opening weekend, attracting a significant influx of visitors. Approximately 1200 railway enthusiasts, according to the city administration, visited the steam locomotive experience world, which was set up at a cost of millions and features a historic locomotive as its main exhibit.
Visitors came from as far as the Vogtland and Brandenburg regions. At times, queues formed at the entrance, as reported by a spokesperson. The first visitor groups had already registered in April. Additionally, visitors had the opportunity to peek into the adjacent repair and maintenance workshop of Deutsche Bahn for historic steam locomotives.
The steam locomotive experience world was opened on Friday. Spanning 900 square meters, it showcases the history and functioning of steam locomotives, which revolutionized transportation in the 19th century and were still in use in the railway system until the 1970s. According to the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, around 17 million euros were invested in the exhibition, with 9.4 million coming from the state.
The steam locomotive experience world boasts other attractions of a capacity to cater to a wide range of interests, such as the adjacent repair and maintenance workshop for historic steam locomotives. The construction of the exhibition was an investment of significant capacity, with approximately 17 million euros allocated towards it.
