Violent weather event - visiting flood-affected region in Passau: Söder
Soder conversed with reaction teams and Mayor Jürgen Dupper (SPD). The residents of Passau are "flood experts," he remarked, commending the preemptive actions taken by politics and response groups. The volunteers in addition to all across Bavaria were "superhuman."
The flood defenses in the city have been steadily enlarged over the last few years, noted Mayor Dupper. It is crucial for Passau that flood mitigation already starts occurring upstream in the zones.
In the riverbank districts of the old town, there were still numerous rows of homes submerged in water. In the meantime, individuals were seated in street cafes on the better-positioned streets, indulging in pastries and ice cream in the sunlight.
