Virologist Streeck wants to enter the Bundestag for the CDU

Bonn virologist Hendrik Streeck wants to run for the Bundestag for the CDU. He wants to run for the CDU seat in the Bonn constituency in the 2025 Bundestag elections, he told the Bonn-based newspaper "General-Anzeiger" (Saturday). "During the pandemic, it became clear to all of us that the culture of debate in our country no longer works so well," said the 46-year-old. This motivated him to take on a political mandate.

According to the doctor, he joined the CDU before the pandemic. He is initially applying in the party's internal nomination process and will introduce himself to the members of the CDU Bonn in the coming months. "I would like to represent Bonn in the Bundestag with my expertise in order to help shape the complex challenges of our time in a professional and courageous manner," he said.

As a doctor and scientist, he has a practical insight every day "into the huge potential of our country, which we must finally unleash again in order to lead Germany back to the top internationally". To achieve this, problems must be clearly identified and then solved.

People across Bonn are discussing Streeck's decision to run for the CDU in the Bundestag, as he aims to represent Bonn in the 2025 elections. Streeck, a member of the CDU since before the pandemic, believes that his expertise in healthcare and science can help shape solutions to the complex challenges of our time in the Bundestag.
