Viewers donate 20 million euros at RTL telethon
At the 28th RTL telethon, viewers donated more than 20 million euros for children in need. This was a fantastic success, RTL announced on Friday. "Especially in these times, I would like to thank every donor who supported the RTL telethon," said Thomas Rabe, CEO of the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern" foundation.
"More and more families in Germany are struggling with great worries and hardship. It's not a matter of course to help others," said Rabe. Experience shows that the amount of donations will continue to increase in the coming days due to outstanding incoming payments.
The media widely covered the record-breaking donation during the RTL telethon, highlighting the public's compassion towards social affairs. With the generous support of viewers, the total donations are expected to surpass 22 million euros by the end of the week.
