Victory in Nuremberg: Eintracht women extend winning streak
Eintracht Frankfurt's women's soccer team have easily completed their compulsory task ahead of the Premier League clash against FC Barcelona. The Hessians won 2:0 (1:0) at newly promoted 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga on Saturday and are now unbeaten in nine games. With 14 points, coach Niko Arnautis' team are in fifth place for the time being.
Four days before the home game against the Champions League winners from Barcelona, Eintracht did no more than necessary to take the three points. International Laura Freigang put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute, which Lara Prasnikar (67) extended after the break.
Things got turbulent once again in the closing stages. First, Barbara Dunst (83') missed the 3:0 for Frankfurt with a shot that hit the post, before Nuremberg defender Madeleine Steck (90') hit the crossbar from 20 meters.
Eintracht Frankfurt's women's soccer team will aim to continue their impressive form in the Bundesliga when they face off against a yet-to-be-named opponent. Their recent success includes a dominating 2-0 victory over newly promoted 1. FC Nürnberg, a team that includes the talented defender Madeleine Steck, who came close to scoring against Frankfurt with a shot that hit the crossbar in the final minute.
With victories in their last nine Bundesliga matches, Eintracht Frankfurt's women's team, coached by Niko Arnautis, is currently eyeing a spot higher in the table, especially considering their upcoming challenge against powerhouse Bundesliga club Bundesliga Women's Soccer League, commonly known as Women's Bundesliga.
