Transfer - VfL Wolfsburg sign Barcelona striker

Football-Bundesligist VfL Wolfsburg has signed a player from Champions League winner FC Barcelona. The 21-year-old striker Ariana Arias was previously the top scorer of the second Spanish League, where she mainly played for Barcelona's second team. However, she also appeared seven times in the first league, in the Spanish Cup, and in the Champions League last season. In Wolfsburg, she signed a three-year contract, as the VfL announced on Sunday.

"Ariana is an extremely goal-scoring player who can be flexibly used in offense. At the same time, as a young player, she still has great development potential," said VfL Wolfsburg's women's football director Ralf Kellermann. "We therefore assume that she will take on a decisive role in our squad in the long term."
