VfB Lübeck have lost their first game since the departure of coach Lukas Pfeiffer. The third-division soccer club lost 0:1 (0:1) at Rot-Weiss Essen on Friday evening under the direction of interim coach Bastian Reinhardt. Isaiah Young (45th minute) scored the only goal of the game at the Hafenstraße stadium.

The Hanseatic team had little of the play in the first half, but Essen made nothing of their possession for a long time. Young only scored shortly before the half-time whistle to take the lead in an initially tough encounter. Lübeck improved their performance in the second half, but were unable to score an equalizer.
