World Cup in Indonesia - VfB coach Hoeneß keeps his fingers crossed for the U17s
VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß is also impressed by the German U17 national team and will be keeping his fingers crossed for the final at the World Cup in Indonesia. "The team is really fun. I think they've shown a few virtues that are typical of us. It's really good to watch," said the 41-year-old from Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart. "I'll certainly be sitting in front of the TV on Saturday at 1pm," he announced with a view to the final against France. On Saturday evening (18:30/Sky), VfB will face Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
The team had "not had an easy path" to the final and had been "very strong nerves" in the semi-final, said Hoeneß. Immediately after training on Tuesday, he joined a small group of VfB professionals who had watched the penalty shoot-out in the semi-final against Argentina on their cell phones. "Then we let out a short cheer together," Hoeneß reported. Defender Maximilian Herwerth is a member of the VfB youth squad and came on as a substitute several times during the tournament.
