VfB coach Hoeneß considers dual leadership with Guirassy and Undav
Center-forwards Serhou Guirassy and Deniz Undav could appear together in the starting eleven for the first time in VfB Stuttgart's away game at Eintracht Frankfurt. In principle, there is a "good chance that both will be on the pitch together", said coach Sebastian Hoeneß two days before the game at the defensively strong Hesse on Saturday (18:30/Sky). "That's also my job to a certain extent, when both are in such good form, to get that right."
However, Hoeneß explained that his tactical approach would ultimately depend on a number of factors - for example, the formation in which the opponents defend and Guirassy's physical condition following his exhausting international trip with the Guinea national team. Hoeneß reported that the 27-year-old was tired but in good mental shape. "Of course I would have liked it to be less after the injury," he said of Guirassy's full-time appearance in the World Cup qualifier against Botswana (0:1). However, he did not "blame him in any way."
Guirassy has already scored 15 league goals for VfB this season. In between, he was absent due to a thigh injury. His deputy Undav has scored five goals in a Stuttgart shirt so far.
In the upcoming Bundesliga fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, coach Hoeneß might opt for a tandem of Guirassy and Undav upfront, given their impressive form. If both Guirassy and Undav are selected for VfB Stuttgart's away match in the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt, it will mark the first time they start together for the club.
