Grins have returned to VfB Stuttgart. The commanding 5-0 (3-0) victory in the initial round of the German Cup against Preußen Münster quelled apprehensions surrounding rising unease. As contrasts to the unfortunate Supercup defeat against Leverkusen (3-4 on penalties) and the demoralizing 1-3 setback in the league kickoff in Freiburg, there was cause for celebration once more. "There was tension today," conceded coach Sebastian Hoeneß, addressing their rocky start to the season. "We have numerous changes happening at our club this summer. We need time and successful games. Wins like today certainly help."

Not only the objectives from Angelo Stiller (7th minute), Ermedin Demirovic (15th), Pascal Stenzel (35th), Nick Woltemade (72nd), and Atakan Karazor (80th, penalty) elevated the Swabians' spirits. Led by Stiller's impressive performance, VfB delivered a dominant display and regained self-confidence in preparation for the Bundesliga home game against Mainz on Saturday (3:30 PM). "We aim to learn from the game in Freiburg. We've managed to do that. That isn't a given for a newly-promoted team with high expectations," said Hoeneß.

Beyond the duel with Mainz, the team is eagerly anticipating the Champions League draw on Thursday. Owing to their impressive previous campaign, VfB secured a spot in the European elite league for the first time in over 14 years. "We're a young side and we're genuinely enthused. We'll gather together, watch it, and of course, celebrate," shared Demirovic, who's aiming for "one or two high-profile names" in the draw.

Defender Pascal Stenzel also looks forward to the Champions League draw on Thursday (6:00 PM/Sky) in Monaco without any reservations regarding prominent opponents. When asked about his preferred opponent, he remain unfazed, saying, "The classic: Real Madrid away."

Despite the excitement surrounding the upcoming Champions League draw, the Supercup defeat against Leverkusen still casts a shadow. VfB Stuttgart will face tough competition in the Champions League, hoping to put their Supercup disappointment behind them.
