Verdict on manslaughter following shooting deaths at Mercedes-Werk in Sindelfingen is valid

It was proven in court that the defendant, who was employed as a forklift driver in the company in May 2023, suddenly pulled out a firearm during an argument with his two team leaders, and shot at them eight times from a distance of approximately 60 to 120 centimeters. One man, a 45-year-old, died at the scene, while the other, a 44-year-old, later in the hospital. The company security overpowered the perpetrator in the hall after the shooting.

In the trial, the man named alleged bullying and the fear of being dismissed as motivation. The court also acknowledged the particular severity of the offense in its judgment, making an early release from prison almost impossible. The defendant appealed to the Federal Court of Justice to review the judgment. However, this court found no legal errors to his disadvantage, making the judgment legally binding.

The defendant's criminal case was initially heard at the District Court Stuttgart. Subsequently, he decided to work at a different Mercedes-Factory in Sindelfingen, presumably seeking a fresh start. Regrettably, his past actions caught up with him again, as the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe upheld the initial murder verdict and prison sentence, ruling out any possibility of early release due to the grave nature of his crime.
