Verdict expected in trial over seven-year-old girl killed
The verdict in the trial of a man who allegedly killed his seven-year-old daughter is expected today at Ulm Regional Court. According to the court, both the public prosecutor's office and the joint plaintiff as well as the defense had demanded that the Serbian man be placed in a psychiatric hospital. The public prosecutor's office therefore believes that the offence of murder has been legally committed.
According to the indictment, the 41-year-old allegedly killed his daughter with a knife on a playground in Ulm in April. The public prosecutor's office assumes that the accused was suffering from schizophrenic psychosis. According to a statement from the public prosecutor's office, the man tied his daughter's hands behind her back. She had thought that they were "playing Indians".
According to the court, the mother of the seven-year-old joined the proceedings as a joint plaintiff. The accused has been provisionally placed in a psychiatric hospital.
The expected verdict in the trial may lead to various processes, depending on the judgment made. Regardless of the outcome, this case has highlighted the importance of mental health processes in criminal proceedings.
