Process - Verdict expected against suspected right-wing terrorist
The verdict in the closed trial against a suspected right-wing terrorist from Potsdam is expected on Friday. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Potsdam district court on Thursday. The trial has been conducted behind closed doors since mid-July because the accused was a minor at the time of the alleged crime. The court has therefore not made any announcements about the course of the trial. The court spokesperson announced that there would be information on the verdict if necessary. A first attempt at the trial had been canceled in April due to the illness of a juror.
According to the indictment by the Brandenburg Public Prosecutor General's Office, the German, who is classified as a "Gefährder", is suspected of having planned an explosives attack. His crimes are said to have a right-wing extremist background. The suspect was remanded in custody at the beginning of June last year.
He is said to have obtained instructions on how to build weapons, ammunition and explosive devices and also made initial attempts to detonate them. Instructions for this were seized during searches. According to a statement issued by the authorities in the summer, he tried to recruit young people in particular for a "revolution against the system" on social media.

The ongoing trial in Potsdam related to right-wing extremism and terrorism is a stark reminder of the need to address processes associated with extremist ideologies. The accused, who allegedly planned an explosives attack with a right-wing extremist background, was allegedly found to have obtained instructions for building weapons and attempting to recruit young people for a 'revolution against the system' on social media.
While the verdict against the suspect from Potsdam is expected on Friday, it's important to note that similar processes and extremist ideologies across Brandenburg and beyond require continuous monitoring and intervention to prevent potential acts of terrorism.
