Wage dispute - Verdi: Wage agreement at Schwerin public transport company
According to the trade union Verdi, an agreement has been reached in the wage negotiations at Nahverkehr Schwerin GmbH (NVS). The warning strikes in local public transport in the state capital will therefore be suspended from Sunday morning.
Verdi announced on Saturday afternoon in Schwerin that "today's offer from the employer provides the table-effective inflation compensation we demanded and forms the basis for the current wage agreement". Following this decisive step, a viable solution has been agreed for both sides. No statement was initially available from the employers.
Verdi negotiator Christian Manke said that "there will probably be no further burdens for passengers in the pre-Christmas period". According to a report in the "Schweriner Volkszeitung", NVS Managing Director Lothar Matzkeit assumes that buses and trains will run according to the usual timetables again.
Buses and streetcars have not been running in Schwerin since the start of operations at 3.30 a.m. on Saturday. Originally they were supposed to be at a standstill until 4.00 a.m. on Monday. Another warning strike in Schwerin was planned for December 9-12.
