Individuals dealing with Hamburger Sparkasse Haspa might encounter disruptions on Thursday. The labor union Verdi has announced a full-day work stoppage among staff at public banks, coinciding with the second round of negotiations. To amplify their demands, a rally is scheduled to take place, starting at Germanyhaus on Dammtorstraße 1 and concluding at the union headquarters at Besenbinderhof 60 in the morning.

Verdi is pressing for various things, such as a 12.5% wage increase, a minimum of 500 euros supplement each month, and an additional 250 euros monthly for apprentice pay. The employer's proposition stands at a 5.0% increase by October or November, 2.5% starting January 1, 2026, and an additional 2.0% from January 1, 2027, with a duration of 43 months.

Unfortunately, "the latest wage agreement happened right before the inflation spike, so employees have suffered significant real wage decrease in the past two years," as mentioned by Alexandra Luerssen, Verdi trade union director. Being the biggest savings bank in Germany, Haspa should shoulder its responsibility towards its employees and champion their rights within the employers' association.

Other public banks may also be affected by Verdi's work stoppage, potentially causing widespread disruptions. Despite the differing wage increase proposals, it's crucial for Hamburger Sparkasse Haspa, as a leading institution in Germany, to listen to its employees' concerns and strive for a fair settlement.
