Verdi calls for warning strikes in the public sector
Warning strikes are imminent in Schleswig-Holstein in the public sector wage round for state employees. According to Verdi, the union is reacting to the lack of an offer from the Tarifgemeinschaft deutscher Länder (TDL) in the negotiations in Potsdam.
At the start on Tuesday, coastal protection employees in the State Agency for Coastal Protection, National Park and Marine Conservation (LKN.SH), the road construction administration with the State Agency for Road Construction and Transport (LBV-SH) and employees of parts of Gottorf Castle have been called out on warning strike. Those affected at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences and the Europa Universität Flensburg are also to strike, Verdi announced on Monday. A demonstration is planned in Schleswig.
Verdi is demanding 10.5 percent more income for employees in the public sector of the federal states, but at least 500 euros more per month. Junior staff are to receive 200 euros more and trainees are to be offered permanent contracts.
The ongoing dispute between Verdi and the Tarifgemeinschaft deutscher Länder (TDL) has led to calls for federal state tariffs in the public sector negotiations, as Verdi finds the offer insufficient. Despite this, trade unions are planning warning strikes in various public service sectors, affecting employees from coastal protection to universities.
