Verdi calls for warning strike at Halle University Hospital
The trade union Verdi has called for a warning strike at Halle University Hospital as part of the wage negotiations in the public sector of the federal states. The early and late shift will be on strike, according to a Verdi statement on Thursday. All trainees and employees who are covered by the respective in-house collective agreements will be affected. A demonstration was also planned in Halle on Thursday morning, Verdi announced.
Verdi had called for nationwide warning strikes in the healthcare sector. The union is demanding an income increase of 10.5 percent, but at least 500 euros, for public sector employees in the federal states. It is also demanding a minimum contract period of twelve months and that trainees be taken on indefinitely. They should also receive 200 euros more pay. The negotiations will continue on December 7 and 8 in Potsdam.
Given the current situation, the proposed tariffs by Verdi could significantly impact the operational costs of Halle University Hospital, potentially affecting its ability to provide high-quality healthcare services in the public sector. Furthermore, the union's push for improved working conditions in hospitals, such as a 10.5% income increase and a minimum contract period of twelve months, is crucial for ensuring the well-being and job security of healthcare workers.
