Wage dispute - Verdi announces further warning strikes in retail in MV

The Verdi trade union has announced warning strikes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for Friday and Saturday in the deadlocked wage dispute in the retail, wholesale and foreign trade sectors. Verdi negotiator Bert Stach will also speak at a rally in Schwerin on Friday morning, the union announced on Thursday.

Verdi Nord is demanding an increase in wages and salaries of 2.50 euros per hour for retail employees and an increase in hourly wages to 13.50 euros for the lower groups of employees. For wholesale employees, the union is demanding a 13 percent increase in wages and salaries, but at least 400 euros.

"Despite top-level talks at federal level and the agreement to resume regional negotiations, the retail association in MV has not yet confirmed a date for new talks," criticized Daniel Taprogge, Verdi district manager in Schwerin. The employers' side is making the precondition for new negotiations that their latest offer should be the basis for a wage agreement. This is a "wage dictate".
