- Vehicles and waste bins are engulfed in flames in Dresden.
Various blazes in the Dresden area of Strehlen kept law enforcement and firefighters busy throughout the night. The local authorities are treating this situation as deliberate arson. No casualties were reported. Initial reports suggested that the cause was a burning vehicle. Upon arrival, the fire had already engulfed another car and severely damaged a third.
While firefighting operations were ongoing, ten garbage bins nearby burst into flames. The fire threatened to engulf the surrounding greenery and a nearby residence, according to reports. With fire engines still occupied at the car fire, the police attempted to put out the fire using handheld extinguishers. Later, a fire engine arrived, and multiple teams managed to extinguish the blaze.
Unfortunately, a few houses further down, another car ignited. Just like before, the fire spread to another vehicle. Several trees also suffered damage. An adjacent car showed signs of heat damage, the fire department noted. However, the fire was eventually brought under control. Another burning garbage bin in the neighborhood was swiftly put out as well.
The firefighters had to divert their resources from the initial car fire to put out a blaze in a nearby garage, which housed several cars. Despite their best efforts, a nearby car showroom suffered minor damage due to the smoke and heat from the various fires.
