In the Rhein-Neckar region, an unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. A motorist, for some unexplained reasons, swerved off the main road B38 close to Weinheim and drove onto a traffic island, as per the police report.
The errant vehicle then clashed with a traffic signal pole, ensnaring the 26-year-old passenger within. The fire department promptly responded and extracted the wounded man. Subsequently, the injured individual was whisked away to the hospital via an air ambulance.
For a brief period, the B38 was shut down, but it has since been reopened, as confirmed by the police.
The incident resulted in significant damage to the traffic signal pole. Due to the impact, several accidents on the B38 were narrowly avoided.
