VC Wiesbaden wins first leg of round of 16 in Istanbul

The volleyball players of VC Wiesbaden have created a good starting position ahead of the second leg of the round of 16 in the CEV Challenge Cup. The Hessians won the first leg at Turkish representative Galatasaray Istanbul 3:2 (25:22, 25:16, 25:27, 21:25, 15:13) on Thursday evening. The decisive match for a place in the quarter-finals will take place in Wiesbaden on December 6.

Wiesbaden missed out on a clear success after a strong start. The visitors played with concentration in the first two rounds and deservedly took a 2:0 lead in sets. The signs were also pointing to an outright victory in the third set. However, after leading 23:19, not much was achieved. They also missed a match point at 24:23. That took its revenge. The Turkish side then got into the match better and better, taking the fourth set and forcing the VCW into a tie-break. The Bundesliga volleyball team showed strong nerves in the tie-break.

The Women's volleyball team of VC Wiesbaden will aim to defend their home court advantage in the second leg of the CEV Challenge Cup, as they seek to advance to the quarter-finals after narrowly winning the first leg against Galatasaray Istanbul. Regardless of the close result in the first leg, the Hessians will be eager to take part in the cev challenge cup Women's cev challenge cup.
