VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen reaches cup quarter-finals with a 3:1 win

VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen has reached the quarter-finals of the DVV Cup for the first time in the club's history. Coach Alessandro Lodi's charges won their guest match at Bundesliga rivals ASV Dachau 3:1 (25:15, 18:25, 26:24, 25:22) after 92 minutes and concluded the third match in the English week with a success. The team from Saxony-Anhalt had also won the point match at Dachau 3:2 in their favor and defeated FT Freiburg 3:0 in their first Bundesliga home match.

After winning the first half in commanding fashion, the visitors lost the thread of the game. Dachau equalized the score at 1:1. In the hard-fought third set, the team from Bitterfeld fended off a set point at 23:24 and took the set with three points in a row. The team from Saxony-Anhalt also trailed in the fourth set until 15:16, but then produced a 5:1 run to make it 20:17. Mateus Jalovecky from Bitterfeld was named the most valuable player.

VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen will face another challenging match in the cup semi-finals, as they aim to win the Volleyball Cup. Despite losing the second set, they managed to secure the victory with a 3:1 score, advancing to the quarter-finals with the Cup still in sight.
