Inquiry into a disappeared individual. - Valeriia remains missing as investigators continue their search
For the past few days, there's been no sign of nine-year-old Valeriia from Döbeln. The search will carry on tomorrow, as a representative for the Chemnitzer Polizeidirektion told the German Press Agency early Saturday morning. Multiple police officers and policewomen will be in Döbeln again, and residents will be questioned about their whereabouts.
We last saw the little Valeriia on the morning of Monday, when she left for school around 6:50 am, as told by police. However, she never showed up in class.
Yesterday's extensive search operation, involving divers, special dogs, and hundreds of police officers, proved fruitless. Drones and helicopters were also used, along with Super-Recognisers examining countless images and videos. As it stands, there's still no trace of the girl.
The police are exploring every possible angle. This includes looking into kidnapping, but also the possibility that the child may have hidden or experienced an accident. The girl, who's originally from Ukraine, lives with her mother in Germany, while her father remains in Ukraine. The father of the child is also being contacted. "We wouldn't be spearheading the search in Döbeln if we believed the girl was out of the country," mentioned a police representative on Saturday.
