Groups or Organizations - "UVNord: European polls serve as a warning for Germany's traffic light government"
The recent European election results are a wake-up call for Berlin's traffic light coalition, according to northern companies. The federal government has been focusing on the wrong priorities, says Philipp Murmann, president of the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein (UVNord).
On Monday, Murmann spoke in Kiel and expressed concern about the economy, jobs, and internal security, which are all issues that matter most to the people. "Instead, they're being offered solutions for cannabis consumption and gender identification," he said.
Murmann believes that the rise of Euroskepticism is a major concern as we need unity in Europe for peace and cohesion. Additionally, he strongly emphasized the importance of strengthening the European economy and internal market. In these economically challenging times, a clear commitment to a strong Europe is crucial, he added. UVNord is hopeful that democratic factions will unite and move forward to create a strong and powerful Europe both economically and politically.
