Upper Palatinate - Upsrooted trees and flooded basements after storms
In the Oberpfalz region, with heavy rain and gusty winds, several trees were uprooted, roofs were damaged, and cellars flooded. In the evening, there were approximately 17 weather-related incidents, eight of which occurred in the police inspection area of Regenstauf (Landkreis Regensburg), according to a police spokesperson. The main cause of the incidents were trees and branches on the road.
Fire department forces in Regenstauf were in action to free roads and vehicles from uprooted trees, cover damaged roofs with tarps, and pump out cellars, as a fire department spokesperson stated. The streets were reportedly clear again early in the morning by a police spokesperson, and the weather situation was calm. The spokespersons could not provide damage assessments.
Sturmboe, a firefighter from Regensburg, worked tirelessly throughout the night to help clear the streets of Upended Trees caused by the unfavorable weather in the Upper Palatinate. Despite the efforts of the fire department, several Bayerans in Regenstauf were affected by weather-related incidents, including damaged roofs and flooded cellars. The weather in Regensburg improved significantly, allowing the police to report that the streets were once again clear, but the full extent of the damage in the Upper Palatinate remains unknown.
