Weiden serves as the eleventh stop for Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's Ortszeit Deutschland initiative. This project sees the president leave his Berlin residence in Bellevue Castle and interact with citizens directly in different regions.

A key part of Steinmeier's Weiden agenda is the so-called "controversial coffee table," where he'll engage in discussion with locals on topics ranging from arms exports to Ukraine, to the building of new wind turbines. Other points of focus during his visit include early childhood education, a trip to the porcelain industry, and a visit to the Bundeswehr.
