Following heavy thunderstorms in the district of Karlsruhe, the German Weather Service (DWD) expects severe weather tonight, this time in the far south and southeast of Baden-Württemberg. The area from Oberschwaben to the Ostalb is likely to be particularly affected. A DWD spokesperson mentioned isolated rainfall of up to 40 liters per square meter, along with hail and gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour.

Monitor Water Levels

According to the flood forecasting center, strong water level increases are possible in the affected streams and small rivers due to locally heavy rainfall until Thursday night. In built-up areas, local overflows of the sewer system and rapid flooding of streets, basements, underpasses, and underground garages can occur in case of heavy rainfall. Flooding of roads is also possible in rural areas.

The Flood Forecasting Center advises residents in the affected areas to stay vigilant and monitor the water levels closely. The Commission, in coordination with local authorities, will closely monitor the situation and deploy resources as necessary to mitigate potential flooding.
