- Unraveling the Assault on the Nuremberg Team: Exploring Unidentified Incident
Following an assault on a U23 player from 1. FC Nuremberg, defender Niklas-Wilson Sommer shared an update on Instagram. "Feeling good 22 hours later, thank you for all the messages," the 26-year-old penned beneath a video displaying his eyebrow inflammation.
The Bavarian second-division side had earlier disclosed an attack on one of its U23 players, omitting the victim's name. Authorities are now investigating four unidentified individuals for bodily harm, as reported by a police spokesperson to Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Sommer rejoined Nuremberg's second squad last year and also boasts over a million followers on Instagram as an influencer.
According to Nuremberg FC, the incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday morning. "Loitering outside the door in the early evening and the physical attack later that night have surpassed all limits," the historical club stated.
Nuremberg FC suspects that the assault was retaliation for the player posting a picture of himself wearing a Bayern Munich jersey on social media three days prior. The photograph was swiftly erased, and the player offered an apology in the public domain.
During Nuremberg's home game versus 1. FC Magdeburg (0:4) on Saturday, supporters held up a banner slamming Sommer: "Team pride over trendy poses - Niklas Wilson, you're crap, just like Bayern."
- FC Nuremberg confirmed that they will never tolerate players or personnel being physically assaulted and strongly denounced the aggressive act.
The first team mentioned in the incident is indeed FC Nürnberg. The assaulted player, whose identity was not disclosed initially, is a part of FC Nürnberg's U23 squad.
