Unowned bag: tracks at Duisburg main station closed
Due to a stray bag at Duisburg Central Station, train traffic in the area was slowed down on Thursday evening. Tracks 1, 2 and 3 were closed and delays and cancellations were to be expected, Deutsche Bahn announced on X, formerly Twitter. According to the Federal Police, the background to this is the discovery of a bag near the tracks. As a result, parts of the main station are now being evacuated, a spokesperson said on Monday evening. Disarmers are on their way to check the contents and rule out the possibility that it is a dangerous object. No details were initially given on the duration of the disruption.
In light of the stray bag near the tracks, emergency procedures were initiated at Duisburg Central Station, potentially affecting both railroad and traffic in the area. Given the evacuation of parts of the main station, it's wise for commuters to plan alternative routes for their journeys, considering the potential for prolonged traffic congestion due to the ongoing situation.
