Unknown individuals blew up an ATM in the Saarland town of Quierschied. The ATM room of a bank was destroyed in the explosion during the night, as the police reported. Parts of the building were also damaged. Witnesses reported several perpetrators fleeing in a dark sedan towards the A8 highway. A loud detonation was heard beforehand.

A manhunt for the bombers, involving federal police and neighboring countries' authorities, initially proved unsuccessful. The perpetrators are believed to have stolen cash - the exact amount is still unclear. The police are appealing for any potential witness information.
