Berlin - Unknown substance leaked in Rudow: Fire department operation
An unknown substance has leaked from the premises of a waste disposal company in Berlin-Rudow. Three injured people were taken to hospital, the Berlin fire department announced on the social network X, formerly Twitter. The area around the waste disposal company has already been cleared and the adjacent canal road between Mistelweg and Salbeiweg has been closed, said a spokesperson for the Berlin fire department on request. The fire department is currently on site with 60 firefighters, he said. There is therefore no danger to the public.
The Berlin police's Analytical Task Force, a special unit for detecting and combating biological, chemical or radiological hazards, is already on site, said the fire department spokesman. The unknown substance had escaped during the delivery of waste. Work is currently underway to find out what the substance is.
