Exploring the world of scientific discoveries and advancements. - University of Lübeck introduces research focus on gender identity.
How does one define a person's gender? This is the question at the heart of a research collaboration at the Universities of Lübeck and Kiel. With contributions from medical and biological experts, scholars in the natural, humanities, and social sciences, this interdisciplinary study seeks to develop a more nuanced understanding of biological sex ("Sex") and the connection between it and social gender ("Gender").
This project aims to explore the diversity of bodily sex across different research fields using cutting-edge methods from biomedicine, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Running initially until 2027, the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) includes partners from universities in Berlin, Flensburg, Magdeburg, Munich, and Hannover. A public kick-off event on Wednesday will see the team introduce their research and present their research concept.
