Following the departure of Urs Fischer, 1. FC Union Berlin does not want to be put under any time pressure in its search for a new coach. "The process we are now setting up will be a very careful one. It basically started at midday today," said president Dirk Zingler in Berlin on Wednesday, a few hours after the Bundesliga club announced Fischer's departure. "We will take our time," said Zingler.

"We are trying to regain stability relatively quickly. This requires a careful process without any time pressure," explained the 59-year-old. Fischer (57) and the club had agreed to end their collaboration after 14 games without a win and the club slipping to the bottom of the Bundesliga table.

"We will take our time because we have every confidence in Marco Grote, the assistant coaches and the assistant coach to lead the team in the coming days or weeks," said Zingler. U19 coach Grote will be in charge of the team as interim coach for the time being.

The president left open whether Grote could also take over the team permanently. "We'll be happy to talk about all the issues from Monday," said Zingler, referring to the respect due to Fischer.

The 1st FC Union Berlin, currently without a coach after Urs Fischer's departure, will thoroughly examine potential replacements in their search for a new coach, avoiding any time pressure. With Marco Grote, the assistant coach, taking charge temporarily, the club shows confidence in his ability to manage the team, at least for the near future.
