Union manager Ruhnert: No talks with Raúl
In its search for a successor to coach Urs Fischer, 1. FC Union Berlin has not looked more closely at Spanish soccer legend Raúl. "We really have had a lot of talks in the last few days. And it really speaks for the organization of this club that of all the candidates or talks we have had, not a single candidate has come to light to date," said manager Oliver Ruhnert on Sunday.
Before the official announcement of Nenad Bjelica as the new coach of the struggling Bundesliga club, numerous candidates had been traded as usual. On Sunday night, according to a media report, rumors intensified that the former world-class striker Raúl could take over the Eisern. Previously, there had also been speculation about Oliver Glasner or Alfred Schreuder.
Despite the speculation surrounding Raúl, the Spanish soccer legend, 1st FC Union Berlin has not engaged in detailed discussions with him for the coach position. The Bundesliga club is yet to announce Nenad Bjelica as their new coach, following the departure of Urs Fischer.
