Union Fischer on words from the President: "Hugely important"

Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer was delighted by the unequivocal support of his president Dirk Zingler - but the Swiss is aware of the need for an upward trend. "I think it's great, of course I've noticed that. In a situation like this, it's enormously important to feel the confidence," said the 57-year-old ahead of the Köpenickers' game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). The Berlin Champions League starters have lost eleven competitive games in a row and have slipped into the relegation places in the league.

Zingler had made it clear in the stadium booklet that the club still considered Fischer to be the right coach to lead the club out of the crisis. Not out of gratitude for past successes, "but because we are convinced that he is an outstanding coach who can solve this difficult task," wrote the president.

He feels the trust, said Fischer. "But I am also aware that this is not a job guarantee. In the end, it's about taking further steps and seeing a development," said the coach.

Fischer expressed gratitude for Zingler's unequivocal support, acknowledging that it's hugely important in their current situation. Despite the lost games and relegation struggles in the Bundesliga, 1st FC Union Berlin will face Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, led by Fischer, who remains committed to turning things around and securing the club's future in the top tier with his outstanding coaching skills.
