Union Berlin loans goalkeeper Grill to Braunschweig

Lennart Grill is still under contract with Bundesliga club Union Berlin. That could change after the season. Because his loan to the 2nd division includes a performance-related purchase obligation.

Soccer Bundesliga - Union Berlin loans goalkeeper Grill to Braunschweig

Union Berlin's goalkeeper Lennart Grill will not return to Bundesliga club Union Berlin for now. The 25-year-old will be loaned to Second League side Eintracht Braunschweig for the upcoming season, as announced by the Köpenickers. The loan agreement reportedly includes an option to buy. Grill has played eight games for Union so far.

Grill joined Union Berlin on loan two years ago from Champions Meister Bayer Leverkusen, before being permanently signed in March 2023. Last summer, he was loaned to Osnabrück, where the goalkeeper appeared in 15 league games for them in the 2. Bundesliga.

The loan of Union Berlin's goalkeeper Lennart Grill to Eintracht Braunschweig in the Second League is not a permanent transfer, as the agreement includes an obligation to purchase. This move could potentially impact the 1st FC Union Berlin's goalkeeping setup in the future.

Despite his loan move to Brunswick, Grill's impressive performance in the 2. Bundesliga last summer caught the attention of teams in the Soccer Bundesliga, including some from Lower Saxony.

The former Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper's current loan to Eintracht Braunschweig is not his first stint in the 2. Bundesliga, as he also spent time with Osnabrück last season.

Should his loan period at Eintracht Braunschweig prove successful, Lennart Grill could strengthen a number of Bundesliga clubs' squads in the near future, considering the buyout option in his loan agreement.
