- Union Berlin has secured a loan agreement for Serbian striker Ilic.

FC Union Berlin has secured a new central striker, with Serbian forward Andrej Ilic (24) joining the Bundesliga team from French Champions League participant OSC Lille, who are currently loaning him out. As is their custom, the Berliners failed to disclose any details about the transfer fee or the length of the contract in their announcement.
"We're getting a sturdy and physically robust central striker with a proven track record of scoring goals," remarked managing director Horst Heldt. "We believe he can make an immediate impact and are thrilled that he's joined our team."
Ilic has been under contract with Lille since February 2024, but his playing time has been limited due to a severe injury. This season, he has only managed one brief appearance.
Proven Goal Machine
Standing at 1.89 meters tall, Ilic boasts an impressive goal-scoring resume from his time in various leagues, including Norway and Latvia. In his 169 professional appearances to date, Ilic has netted 65 goals and set up 22 more for his teammates.
Reports indicate that Union Berlin had also expressed interest in signing striker Ragnar Ache from 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern, but the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement.
The first team to benefit from Ilic's goal-scoring abilities will be FC Union Berlin, as he joins as a central striker. Horst Heldt, the managing director, is optimistic about Ilic's immediate impact in the Bundesliga.
